Shoptet Sold To Team.blue For $160 Million

According to Hospodářské noviny, Czech e-commerce leader Shoptet has been sold to Belgian hosting and SaaS giant team.blue for approximately $161 million.
Shoptet is the largest e-commerce platform in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, powering over 43,000 online stores with a combined annual turnover of $2.9 billion. Well-known brands such as Preciosa, Angry Beards, Girls Without Clothes, Kulina.cz, Pura Vida, Little Shoes, and Žufánek distillery all run their shops on Shoptet.
In 2024, Shoptet reported $29 million in consolidated revenue and $11 million EBITDA. Its strong market share of roughly 40% makes it a key player in Central European e-commerce.
Team.blue’s Expansion
Team.blue has been actively acquiring SaaS and e-commerce solutions across Europe in recent years. The purchase of Shoptet represents another step in its strategy to become a dominant player in online business infrastructure on the continent.
Alongside Shoptet, team.blue already owns several Czech and Slovak companies:
- Websupport (Slovakia) – leading web hosting provider
- Active24 (Czech Republic) – hosting and domain services
- Billdu (Slovakia) – invoicing and SaaS tools
- Webnode (Czech Republic) – website builder platform
Impact On Competition
It will also be interesting to watch the impact on Shopify, which has been actively expanding in the Czech market. According to StoreLeads, Shopify already powers almost 5,000 Czech online stores – a 33% year-on-year growth. While Shoptet remains the dominant local player, Shopify’s rapid adoption signals intensifying competition in the region.
For the Czech digital market, this transaction is one of the largest deals in the sector’s history.
