Shopify Sidekick Adds Voice and Fullscreen Mode

Sidekick is Shopify’s built-in AI commerce assistant, designed to help merchants run their stores more efficiently. It can answer questions, provide step-by-step guidance, and even take actions inside the Shopify admin. Whether you need help setting up a discount, analyzing sales data, or troubleshooting a workflow, Sidekick makes store management faster and easier.

Voice Mode Now Available

Shopify has rolled out voice conversations in Sidekick, allowing merchants to interact more naturally with the AI assistant. Instead of typing, you can now speak directly to Sidekick and receive spoken responses, helping you get guidance without breaking your workflow.

At this stage, voice mode is available in early access with support for English and desktop only. Shopify plans to add more languages and mobile support soon.

This feature is designed to make interactions with Sidekick faster and more intuitive, particularly for merchants who are multitasking while managing their store.

Sidekick Fullscreen Mode

Another new feature is fullscreen mode, which gives merchants a larger workspace for more in-depth conversations with Sidekick. This enhancement is particularly useful when tackling complex tasks or reviewing detailed information.

You can enter fullscreen mode in three ways:

  • Click Expand in the top right corner of the Sidekick panel
  • Hold Shift and click the Sidekick icon
  • Navigate directly to your store’s admin URL with /sidekick appended (for example: http://admin.shopify.com/store/your-store-name/sidekick)

Fullscreen mode preserves all the same functionality as the standard panel, while providing more space to manage extended conversations.
